‘Temptation Island’s First Engaged Couple Calls it Quits in Most Harsh Way Imaginable: “Never Had a Real Emotional Connection With You”

The drama reaches its peak on tonight’s episode of Temptation Island as Hall ends his eight-year relationship with Kaitlin for someone he’s only known for two weeks. Queue the jaw-drop!

For those who don’t know, Temptation Island brings on couples at pivotal moments in their relationships and places them into separate houses filled with sexy singles. With them living apart from their significant others, they can see if there’s someone out there they might be more compatible with.

Last week’s episode ended on a cliffhanger when Kaitlin received a video message from Makayla — one of the “sexy singles” living in the house with her fiancé. She boasted about the “amazing time” she’s had getting to know Hall in their house, before referring to him as her “soulmate” and gushing over their “emotional” connection.

In light of the message, we see Kaitlin and Hall — a.k.a. Temptation Island’s first engaged couple — coming face-to-face for the first time since joining the show in the opening scene of Episode 8, titled “Are You Serious, Hall?” In the emotional exchange, Hall tearfully breaks off his relationship with a blindsided Kaitlin.

“I have never had a real emotional connection with you,” he bluntly admits. “And I have tried my entire life to find that connection. You are the best person that I’ve ever met in my entire life so I forced myself to go back to you and I have been lying to myself.”

Hall adds that he “never saw true love” in Kaitlin’s eyes —  even on the day he proposed, which he only did because he thought it was “the right thing to do.” He also confesses to falling in love with someone else in the house. Harsh.

“I deserve better. I know I do. I’ve always known I do,” Kaitlin later tells cameras in her confessional. “I just want to be with him. I want to make it work. But like, he clearly doesn’t care about me so I need to focus on myself and what I want. He’s just selfish. I can’t believe this.”

Luckily, Kaitlin has a good support system back at the villa. Upon hearing the news, the other women break down in tears with her and slam “selfish men.”

As she says later on in the episode, “Good riddance!”

Temptation Island airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on USA Network. Plus, Temptation Island: Secrets Revealed will begin streaming on Peacock on Aug. 10.
