‘Tell Me Lies’ stars tease ‘toxic’ sex scenes after Season 2 premiere: ‘A lot of bad choices’

“Tell Me Lies” star Catherine Missal and newcomer Tom Ellis teased the “sensual” but “toxic” sex scenes in Season 2 in an exclusive interview with The Post, and fans won’t be disappointed.

Hulu’s drama, based on Carola Lovering’s best-selling novel by the same name, is back for a second season after making headlines for its psychological warfare and erotic — but addicting — scenes.

Missal, who plays Bree, and Ellis, 45, whose character is new to the show, spoke to The Post about the infamous sex scenes and how the characters’ bedroom habits evolve in the best and worst ways possible.

Missal and Ellis shared that no character held back their desires this season, revealing, “There’s a lot of bad choices” made.

When asked about the sex scenes that helped make the debut season hard to resist, Ellis, who plays Oliver, a professor who develops a deep connection with college-age Bree despite being married to her writing teacher, blurted out, “Oh my gosh. I don’t know. Toxic.”

Missal blushed and agreed.

“Toxic. Yeah,” she said, to which Ellis added two more descriptions of the characters’ intimate lives.

“Perfect. And sensual,” he stated. “Sensual is a good one,” Missal responded.

Missal also shared that she was blown away with the Season 2 script, telling The Post, “There’s so many twists.”

“I would say probably all of that. Yeah, mostly all of it,” the actress answered when asked if there was a plot line that left her spinning.

“My jaw was like,” she continued, motioning that her jaw was on the floor while reading through the page-turning script. “It was really exciting to read,” Missal said before elaborating without giving too much away.

“There’s so many twists. There’s so many unexpected character… You know,” she added, stopping short of sharing spoilers.

“There’s a lot of bad choices,” Ellis jumped in, repeating the phrase.

The first two episodes of “Tell Me Lies” are available to stream on Hulu — but be warned because we’ve seen the entire season, and the twisted plot lines will keep you up at night.

Ellis — known for his role in “Lucifer” — comes with his own plot twist for viewers. In real life, he’s married to the show’s creator, Meaghan Oppenheimer. The two said “I do” in 2019 and share one child: daughter, Dolly Ellis-Oppenheimer, born on November 8, 2023, via surrogacy.

His character joins the cast as a regular for Season 2. He makes big waves as Oliver, an intimidating professor at Baird College who keeps his emotions tight to his chest and gets uncomfortably close with Bree despite being married to Lucy Albright (played by Grace Van Patten) and Bree’s teacher.

The eight-part series follows Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White) and Lucy’s characters after they end their poisonous relationship. But don’t worry, you’ll find new toxic lovers and romances to love — or hate.

Season 2 jumps between two timelines, the first being in 2008, when the main friend group is in college, and the second in 2015, when Evan and Bree are set to marry.

The remaining episodes of “Tell Me Lies” Season 2 will be released on Hulu weekly until October 16.
