A young man who was taken to hospital after a dangerous schoolies stunt says he regrets his actions.

Adelaide teenager Jude Lane was at a celebration at a Port Elliot caravan park on Saturday when he leapt off a toilet block roof and crashed onto a plastic table.

Emergency services would eventually be called to treat the 18-year-old, who admitted the stunt was “a silly idea in the end”.

“I guess I was trying to be funny and get some attention at the end of the day,” Lane said.

“(I’m) definitely pretty lucky, it could have been a lot worse but I came off pretty scot-free in the end.”

In a video circulating on social media, Lane was cheered on by friends until another boy came crashing down onto his head.

The group rushed to Lane’s aid as he remained unconscious for two minutes.

“I remember as I was coming down, seeing my mate come down as well, which I didn’t know was going to happen,” Lane said.

“I remember then waking up on the ground with nurses around me asking if I was ok.”

His schoolies shirt was torn from his body and he was rushed in an ambulance to South Coast District Hospital

Lane was concussed but was discharged from hospital that night.

His parents, who saw the footage from the night, described the stunt as “horrifying”.

“It’s not the kind of thing a mother wants to see a kid doing,” his mum Helen Lane said.

His dad Tim Lane said the incident “is a lesson on taking some self-control”.

“Until we were able to find out what had happened and how badly he was injured it was a very anxious time,” he said.

Police have slammed the actions as “reckless” and “too common” because of attention-seeking on social media.

It comes just days after police hailed the cohort as the best behaved schoolies in years.

Jude said he regretted the stunt.

”It definitely makes me feel pretty bad that I put my friends and family in that situation,” he said.
