A woman is dead and another woman is seriously injured after the car they were travelling in collided with a bus south of Perth.

Police said a Mercedes sedan and a white Mitsubishi Rosa mini-bus crashed at the intersection of Bussell Highway and Tuart Drive in Yalyalup, near Busselton, about 6.30pm yesterday.

The 18-year-old female driver of the car died at the scene.

Her 17-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Bunbury Regional Hospital.

The driver of the bus, a 23-year-old man, escaped uninjured.

The Crash Investigations Unit will investigate the circumstances behind the incident. 

Anyone with information, or who saw a Mercedes C200 sedan and a white Mitsubishi Rosa mini-bus travelling in the area prior to the crash, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
