The Hillside 17-year-old teen handed himself into Keilor Downs Police Station late last night and has since been charged with one count of murder, police have advised.

Lyhym, a Year 11 Staughton College student, was at a bus stop in Sunshine just before 3.45pm on May 18 when he was allegedly stabbed in the neck while other school students and commuters were around.

The Melton South teenager died on the street despite the work of paramedics, while a 16-year-old boy from Sunshine North was also found with minor injuries after the incident and had to be hospitalised.

The boy charged with murder will appear before a children’s court today.

Both were released without charge pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information that could assist police with their enquiries is urged to contact police.
