A 16-year-old has been charged with murder after a man was allegedly stabbed to death on the Sunshine Coast.
The teenager’s mother is known to the boy’s alleged 42-year-old victim, who was found with stab wounds at a house in Baringa just before midnight.
“It’s not a stepson, but they are associates and he is an associate of the 16-year-old’s mother,” Philip Hurst from Queensland Police said.
“The exact nature of that relationship is something that we’re exploring.”
The boy’s mother and teenager were at home at the time.
”A triple zero call was received just before midnight requesting police and ambulance and obviously to assist the 42-year-old male there with his injuries,” Hurst said.
Police are still investigating the circumstances and are interviewing “a number of people”.
The boy will appear in in Maroochydore Children’s court.
