A teenager has been charged after a young boy was hit by a car and pinned against a tree in Sydney’s east yesterday.

Police believe a white Holden sedan allegedly mounted a footpath and hit the boy at the intersection of Gardeners Road and Bunnerong Road, on the border of Daceyville and Kingsford at 3.40pm.

The boy was rushed to Sydney Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.

The 17-year-old driver of the sedan was taken to hospital for assessment under police guard.

He has since been charged with a number of offences including dangerous driving occasioning grievously bodily harm.

The teenager was granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on January 10.
