Teen ballet dancer chases dream at international competition

HOUSTON, Texas — Aubrey Daniels will be dancing on the same stage where many of her idols have stepped on. She was selected to participate at the prestigious Prix de Lausanne, an international dance competition held annually in Lausanne, Switzerland.

“Being selected for Prix de Lausanne competition means so much to me because it has been a dream of mine and a goal since I was very little,” Daniels said. “I’ve always watched this religiously, like how people watch the Olympics.”

Daniels is a 10th grader at Dawson High School in Pearland ISD. When she is not doing homework, she trains 20 hours a week at Vitacca Ballet & School For Dance in Houston.

“My favorite part of dancing is being on stage, the stage is my favorite place,” Daniels said.

Prix de Lausanne runs from February 2-9, 2025.
