A taxi driver has been charged after allegedly stabbing a passenger in Sydney’s east.

Police alleged 71-year-old Azril Aziz was taking his 22-year-old male passenger home when they began arguing at Boundary Street in Paddington last night.

Aziz then allegedly pulled a seven-centimetre knife and stabbed the man in the face just after 9.30pm last night.

Aziz allegedly drove off and parked up the street.

But his alleged victim confronted him, clutching his injured face and pointing the finger.

Emergency services arrived to the scene and the young man was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in stable condition with a wound above his eye.

Aziz was arrested shortly after and taken to Waverly Police Station where he was charged with reckless wounding.

He has been refused bail and will face Parramatta Local Court tomorrow.
