It was more ‘molly’ than holly when a huge Christmas cache of MDMA pills in a range of fairy light colours for the festive party season was seized in a police bust.
The massive haul of more than 11,000 MDMA pills – a form of illegal ecstasy known in drug slang terms as molly – was allegedly discovered in a hotel room in Hobart.
The apparently home-pressed pills were bagged up in a Pride-style rainbow of bright party colours, with detectives estimating the street value at more than $400,000.

The haul was discovered by Tasmanian uniformed police on Wednesday who also allegedly seized drug manufacturing equipment.
A 47 year old man was arrested at the scene and charged with a string of offences, including trafficking a controlled substance, manufacturing a controlled drug for sale, possessing controlled plant or its products, possessing a thing used for administration of controlled drug and destroying property.
The man has been detained to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Thursday.
A police spokesman added: ‘If anyone has any information relating to the distribution of illicit drugs they are encouraged to contact police or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.’
