A teenage boy has died in a horror head-on crash near the NSW-Victorian border. 

The 17-year-old was killed after his Holden Astra sedan collided with a Toyota Hilux just before 8pm on the Olympic Highway at Table Top on Friday. 

A 31-year-old man, a 31-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy travelling in the Hilux were treated at the scene before they were rushed to hospital. 

‘The driver, of the Holden Astra, a boy believed to be aged 17, died at the scene,’ NSW Police said in a statement on Saturday. 

‘The three occupants of the Toyota Hilux, a man aged 31, a woman aged 31 and a boy aged 12, were treated at the scene by witnesses and Ambulance paramedics, before being conveyed to Albury Base Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.’

The crash site, located about 20km north of Albury, was attended by police officers attached to the Murray River Police District.

An investigation into the circumstances of the crash has been launched and a report will be prepared for the Coroner. 

The 17-year-old’s death marks the 213th life lost on NSW roads so far this year, compared to 197 from the same period in 2023.
