Police were called to Church Street beneath the M4 overpass in Granville shortly after 5pm on Sunday.

Two men were found at the scene with gunshot wounds and were rushed to hospital in critical conditions.

One of the men were shot in head.

Two other men inside the car were uninjured.

Eight ambulances attended the scene, including two specialist medical teams.

An abandoned car was found alight a short time later in a carpark 3.5km away in Todd St, Merrylands.
