Thunderstorms and heavy rain are battering the east coast of Australia in a soggy lead-up to Christmas.
‘Unsettled’ weather will lash the region for most of the week as a cold front passes over the south-east bringing wind gusts of more than 100km/h.
Sydney has copped the brunt of the storm with heavy downpours smashing the NSW capital on Monday and forcing flight delays at the airport.
Temperatures will soar on the other side of the country with the mercury reaching a maximum of 32C in Perth.

Severe storms are forecast for western NSW while damaging winds will tear through central and southern NSW on Monday.
Gusts of up to 125km/h are expected in the alpine areas above 1900m while winds of 100km/h will hit Nowra, Mudgee, Bathurst, Katoomba, Goulburn and Cooma.
One resident complained the inclement weather had forced her flight to be delayed as she waited for her plane at Sydney International Airport.
‘My flight is delayed because of the storm currently hitting Sydney there is a tarmac and planes out there beyond the torrential rain,’ she wrote on Twitter.

Brisbane residents will have their summer of fun interrupted by midweek showers.
Two mostly sunny days of 29C on Thursday and Friday will bode nicely for the cricket Test match starting at the Gabba on Saturday.
The mercury is expected to plummet over the coming days bringing snow to the alpine region in Victoria.
Between 6mm and 15mm of rain will fall in Melbourne on Monday before hail develops and falls across the region on Wednesday.

The unpleasant weather will likely continue throughout the week until next weekend with the mercury dropping as low as 15C.
The Bureau of Meteorology warned it would feel like ‘winter again in the south’.
‘Showers, storms and Alpine snow in south-east Australia with maximum temperatures 6C to 16C below average,’ the bureau warned.
Adelaide will be hit with light showers in the first half of the week before conditions clear and partly conditions with temperatures in the low 20s move in until the weekend.
Canberra has an 80 per cent chance of showers on Monday, with cool temperatures between 17C and 19C to linger for the remainder of the week.
The mercury will dip as low as 13C in Hobart on Wednesday, with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting rainfall of up to 10mm on both Wednesday and Thursday.
The temperature in Darwin is set to remain around 35C until the onset of storms late on Tuesday, while Alice Springs will be given some relief with temperatures dropping into the low 30s from Monday.
The outlook is far better for Perth residents, where sunny conditions will reign for all of next week with temperatures between 25 and 33C.
