A man in his 60s has been left with burns after a suspicious fire at his home in Sydney‘s west.

Emergency services were called to Canley Heights at 6am this morning, where they found the single-storey brick home well-alight.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, while a 68-year-old man was treated at the scene for burns and smoke inhalation, before being airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital.

Police said a crime scene was established and initial inquiries suggested the fire was suspicious.

Police believe other people may also have been injured in the fire and are urged to come forward for medical help.

“Investigators are appealing for information about how the fire started but, more importantly, we are urging anyone who has been injured to seek treatment as soon as possible,” police said.
