A child has been found dead in a hot car in a Sydney suburb, with horrified family members breaking down at the scene.
The child, three, was found in a car outside a grocery store in Glenfield near Campbelltown at around 3pm on Thursday.
NSW Police confirmed the death as it was revealed officers had to smash a window to reach the child.
Officers were told the child had been in the vehicle throughout the day.
The vehicle’s owner, who police described as a man known to the child, raised the alarm when he returned to the car.

A police statement said: ‘Around 3pm (Thursday 2 February 2023), emergency services were called to Railway Parade at Glenfield after reports a child was unresponsive.
‘NSW Ambulance paramedics attended; however, the three-year-old died at the scene.
‘A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
‘A man has been taken to Campbelltown Police Station where he is assisting police.’
