A Sydney cafe owner is hoping the power of social media will help track down a group of hungry thieves who stole hundreds of dollars worth of baked goods from its front step.
The footage captured the group loitering around Cafe Lounge Lugarno about 4am, peeking into newly delivered boxes.
The group appeared to celebrate as they made away from the south Sydney cafe with boxes of freshly baked doughnuts, cakes and pastries.
One of the thieves was seen biting into a croissant as another shuffled boxes into a nearby car.
Cafe manager Jordan Taylor said the act left him in shock.
“I just can’t believe this has happened in such a tight-knit community,” he said.
It is the second time in a year the popular cafe has been targeted in the last year, after a passing cyclist swiped boxes of stock from the cafe almost eight months ago.
After reporting the previous incident to police without much luck, Taylor is now turning to the community in the hopes that someone will recognise those responsible for the most recent theft.
9News can’t reveal the faces of the alleged thieves, but the cafe shared the security vision to a local community Facebook group, urging anyone with information to come forward.
“It’s just a senseless act, so if anyone does know anyone that did this, please come forward,” Taylor said.
