Nat Barr was forced to defend her former Sunrise co-host David ‘Kochie’ Koch during an awkward on-air chat with KIIS FM’s Kyle Sandilands on Thursday.
The Seven presenter, 55, became agitated during an interview with The Kyle And Jackie O Show after Kyle, 52, made a joke about Kochie’s cognitive ability at age 67.
‘He’s only weeks away from not knowing what his name is,’ Sandilands said of Kochie, who last week retired from hosting Sunrise after 21 years in the role.
‘Stop it! You were nice to him when he came on here [your radio show],’ Nat snapped.
‘Now you’re saying he’s senile. That’s not good,’ she added.

Kyle refused to apologise, telling Nat that he didn’t care what Kochie thought of him.
‘[When he was on my show] I told him, ‘You and I will never speak again as soon as you’re out of the celebrity world,’ Kyle explained.
Nat appeared disappointed by the shock-jock’s admission, telling him that Kochie ‘genuinely believed that Kyle was a nice guy’.

‘I am!’ scoffed Kyle, to which Nat bluntly replied: ‘Only when you’re in front of people.’
‘That’s right,’ Kyle simply replied, as Nat sharply responded: ‘OK, fair enough. We know now’.

The breakfast host made the announcement late last month live the show, prefacing the bombshell with: ‘Before we move on, just a bit of news from me.’
He told viewers after ‘nearly 21 years and 5300 shows’, he felt it was time to pass the torch to the next generation.
‘I started here before Facebook, before Instagram, before Twitter and iPhones. That’s how old I am,’ he said, as his co-host Nat became visibly emotional.
‘I have loved every single minute of it and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved here over the last 21 years. I’ve been privileged to experience so many great adventures, to meet so many different people and to meet so many different people and to cover so many moments of history in the making. It really is the world’s best job.’
