Sunny Hostin continued the generation wars on this morning’s episode of The View, coming for Gen Z just one day after Whoopi Goldberg took a shot at lazy millennials.
Hostin’s dig came during a conversation about “delulu,” described by Goldberg as a new way to “manifest your dreams.” As described by The Guardian, delulu is taking over TikTok as the latest way to manifest positive changes in “career, relationships, mental wellbeing” and more.
While delulu is sweeping social media, it was not exactly a big hit at the Hot Topics table. Goldberg was all for the idea of taking your dreams and chasing them — enthusiastically exclaiming, “Don’t forget that you can make it happen!” — but she seemed to be in the minority.
Joy Behar was skeptical, noting, “There’s a difference between creative visualization, which I believe in, … and delusional.”
When it was Hostin’s turn, she called back to Goldberg’s comments on yesterday’s episode, when the co-host said, in part, “If you only want to work four hours, it’s gonna be harder for you to get a house.”

Hostin must have seen the blowback to Goldberg’s words, since she told her co-host today, “The only thing about this new trend — and it’s these millennials that you’re getting some heat from, and Generation Z — is that they’re delusional, they’re ‘delulu,’ but they’re not putting the work in, and I often say prayer without work is prayer.
“You could pray, pray, pray. But can you put some work behind it?” she continued. “I think one of the issues here is that when I read the article it seemed to me that they’re sitting out the window saying, ‘I’m going to become an EGOT.’”
Looking to Goldberg, she added, “Well, you did a lot more than that, right, you didn’t just look out of a window.”
Sara Haines wrapped it up by proclaiming, “You’ve gotta put some hustle with your delulu, or it’s just delusion.”
