The View had some heated takes about pop star Bebe Rexha’s juicy Instagram drama. After the singer posted a screenshot of a text allegedly sent by her boyfriend in which he defended pointing out her recent weight gain, the Hot Topics panel got into it with a lively debate on today’s show.
Rexha shared the image to her Instagram Story last weekend, revealing a message seemingly sent by Keyan Sefyari in which he wrote, in part, “I always said I would be honest with you and your face was changing so I told you it was … You gained 35 pounds obviously you gained weight and your face changes?” per People.
While Sefyari has come under fire from some of Rexha’s fans after she shared the text, Sunny Hostin was on his side.
“It was a very respectful, lovely message, in my opinion,” she said, adding, “It was worded very nicely … ‘I love you, I think you’re beautiful, but you asked. And 35-pound weight gain, I notice it in your face.’ And then she posts it and makes him out to be a jerk.”
Sara Haines agreed, accusing Rexha of “putting a target” on her boyfriend. “What he was saying was really was, one, a text message meant to be intimate and private, and two, really not worthy of a mob.”
But Joy Behar was less forgiving, and offered her own advice to any male viewers, urging them to think twice before criticizing a woman.

“It’s one thing to call out a guy on his looks, but don’t do it to women. I’m warning all of you,” she said. “It’s a big mistake to say, you look fat, I don’t like the dress…whatever you’re commenting about women, keep quiet.”
Haines tried to interject, adding, “But when they ask…” but Behar was on a roll.
“If you want to have sex again, zip it!” she declared, continuing, “When I gain 35 pounds, I know it. I don’t need him to tell me that.”
Haines replied, “But she asked!” later clarifying, “There’s a difference between someone commenting on your body … and ‘Can you just be honest with me,’ from a partner … I want my partner to tell me the truth.”
