A Queensland family was given their ultimate Christmas wish when police recovered and returned their stolen eight-week-old puppy.

Rusty the baby merle pug was allegedly stolen from his family at Glenvale in the Toowoomba region on Christmas Eve.

Luckily, he was found safe and well after police raided a home at Toowoomba South on Christmas morning.

Rusty was taken back to the police station for a photoshoot and a few pats before he was taken home to his owners.
