Steven Miles has been sworn in as the new premier of Queensland.

Miles is Queensland's 40th premier, entering the role after outgoing premier Annastacia Palaszczuk resigned on Sunday citing it was her time to do something else following an eight-year tenure.

Miles was elected unopposed by the Labor caucus today.

Miles was sworn in at Queensland's Parliament House and will hold a press conference shortly after.

Cameron Dick was elected by caucus as deputy premier.
