Bitter Queensland footy ‘fans’ have been blasted online after Origin captain Daly Cherry-Evans was subjected to a chorus of booing post game at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night.
Cherry-Evans, 35, was gracious in defeat, congratulating NSW for winning the series on enemy soil – before urging Michael Maguire’s men to ‘enjoy’ the victory.
Inexplicably, moments earlier as the veteran halfback made his way to the presentation stage, he was booed in some sections of the crowd.
It didn’t long for supporters to condemn the behaviour of a select few on social media.
‘Did the Suncorp crowd just boo DCE? Not a DCE fan, but that’s poor form,’ one person posted.
Another wrote: ‘DCE getting booed at Suncorp in a Maroon jersey. I thought Qlders ‘got’ Origin, they all left with 10 to go.’
A third weighed in with: ‘DCE getting loudly booed at Suncorp Stadium. Never thought I’d hear it.

‘QLD crowd should have stuck around to support their team. [They are] cowards for bailing.’
Meanwhile, Blues five-eighth Jarome Luai – a polarising figure in the eyes of many – was at his cheeky best once the 14-4 result was assured.
As deflated Maroons fans hastily made their way to the exit, Luai was spotted waving farewell to the hordes of supporters.
He later posted an image of himself outside the iconic Caxton Hotel in Brisbane with the cheeky caption ‘goodnight’.
Luai’s incredible individual performance capped a remarkable Origin turnaround, having been sent off last year in game two following an on-field melee with Queensland fullback Reece Walsh.
He received death threats in the aftermath of that incident, and recently stated he was still wearing the scars to this day.
‘It’s sort of a scar, rather than me thinking about the actual game,’ Luai said ahead of the Brisbane decider.
‘But I come to the conclusion that at the end of the day your scars can make you stronger as well.’
