Spurs’ Zach Collins flips off referee after being ejected in wild moment

Zach Collins will definitely be getting a call from the league office.

The Spurs big man flipped off a referee after being ejected for committing a second technical foul in just two quarters in a 140-113 loss to the Kings on Friday.

Collins had been making a second consecutive spot start in place of the injured Victor Wembanyama, who sat for San Antonio’s most recent two games with lower back soreness.

The 6-foot-11 big was called a hard foul on Sacramento Kings All-Star Domantas Sabonis with just over nine minutes left in the second quarter, and he protested the call vehemently, leading to two technicals, prompting an ejection.

Collins made matters worse when he flipped off the officials before heading for the locker room.

He’s likely getting fined, and a suspension could even be on the table.

The Gonzaga alum had three fouls in nine minutes of play and only finished with two points and two rebounds in the loss.

Collins is averaging just north of six points and three rebounds per game and has come off the bench for Wemby when the French phenom has been healthy enough to play.

In the loss, the Spurs were led by a 30-point outburst from St. John’s alum Julian Champagnie.
