Southern Charm fans were thrown for a loop during Thursday night’s (Aug. 18) episode when Naomie Olindo confessed to hooking up with co-star Whitney Sudler-Smith. And viewers voiced their outrage on social media, calling the storyline “fake” and “desperate.”
The morning after the wedding of Patricia Altschul and Shep Rose’s dogs, Naomie, 30, admitted to Leva Bonaparte and Austen Kroll that she made out with Whitney, 54, before he spent the night at her house. Both her co-stars’ reactions were seemingly just as shocked as fans of the show.
However, viewers were a little more skeptical of whether or not this hook-up actually happened, with some questioning why there was no video proof when the show films everything.
One person wrote, “this whitney/naomi thing is fake, for storyline,” while another tweeted, “Like it’s not even a little bit believable… so awkward.”
“Whitney and Naomie hooked up because he’s a producer on this show and he knew this season was lacking storylines,” a fan pointed out.
Someone else said, “People. No one believes Naomie and Whitney hooked up right? His acting is so bad when Craig finds out. I haven’t watched since episode 2; stick a fork in this show.”
“Naomie & Whitney? Absolutely not. It’s giving…. Desperate for a storyline,” a fifth person posted, while someone else said, “This is ridiculous & clearly fiction.”
Another agreed, writing, “Craig is growing, Shep and Whitney are not. I don’t believe Whitney and Naomie hooked up. Probably just for a story line. BUT I may really be wrong.”
On the other hand, others were totally shipping the duo as a couple, even going as far as to slam her ex, Craig Conover, for his “jealous” behavior despite the fact that he’s dating Summer House co-star Paige DeSorbo.
“If Whitney hit on me, I be down for it too….you do you Naomie,” one fan cheered on.
“So Naomie means nothing to Craig yet Whitney can’t kiss her?” another questioned. “If I was Paige this scene would upset me. It’s not bro code and there have been other relationships in between. It’s coming across as jealous. He really shouldn’t give a shit.”
Regarding Whitney allegedly telling Naomie they should breed, one fan wrote, “I love the Naomie/Whitney hookup and hope it becomes a thing… and they breed!!”
“Craig you made it super clear you don’t care about Naomie so who cares if she hooked up with Whitney!? And how is she obsessed with him,” a fourth person pointed out.
Someone else asked, “Am I the only one that kinda likes Naomie and Whitney together??”
