The bodies of two boaties have been been recovered from the sea while a elderly kayaker has been missing for two days following separate tragedies in South Australia.

Emergency services were alerted after a boat capsized off the coast of Cassini on Kangaroo Island shortly after 4.15pm on Wednesday.

An extensive land and sea search was launched by police with the assistance of the Coast Guard.

Polair searched from above and located the overturned vessel. 

The bodies of two men were found in the ocean near the boat and were recovered on Wednesday night.

Further details about the men are yet to be released. 

An investigation has been launched and police will prepare a report for the coroner.

Safework SA has also been notified.

Meanwhile, a search continues for a man who hasn’t been seen or heard from since he set off on a kayaking trip on Monday.

The man, aged in his 70s, departed along the Coorong River, south-east of the Murray Mouth in Salt Creek, a remote wilderness region.

His disappearance was reported to the police on Wednesday after he ceased making regular contact.

Both PolAir and Water Operations are now assisting in an extensive search.

Anyone who saw the kayaker on the Coorong in the Salt Creek area is urged to contact police.
