Young said he obeyed the man’s demands at first then suddenly decided to fight back.

“As I’ve pulled the car door open, I’ve gone straight for the keys to stop the car,” he said.

“As I’ve gone to turn the key and pull it I’ve only got half the key off.”

With the engine left running, the man allegedly chased Young down the street with a knife in his hand, before he eventually gave up chase.

With the engine left running, the man allegedly chased Young down the street with a knife in his hand, before he eventually gave up chase.

The alleged carjacking took place on the corner of Loane Crescent and Nightingale Drive.

Young’s phone and wallet were still in the car, so he yelled for help before a nearby resident rang triple zero.

“I was yelling out, ‘Help, please someone help’,” Young said.

Police have since found the stolen car but the alleged thief remains on the run.

“I still can’t believe that it’s actually happened,” Young said.
