Somehow the Associated Press Gets Worse

You would think that The Associated Press–you know, the news organization that shared office space with Hamas in Gaza for years–would struggle to find ways to become even more morally repulsive than it has been in recent years.

You would be wrong. They are a creative bunch. No doubt they have a working group that collaborates with academics and Iranian mullahs to come up with ways to be more Satanic.

Imagine an Associated Press reporter covering the battle for Berlin in 1945. As the Nazis fight house to house, AP reporters carefully document every family member of the Nazi soldiers and assign blame to the Allies as they battle to defeat the evil regime.

We would see ledes to stories every day like this:

“In their battle to defeat the Nazis defending their beloved homeland, vicious Allied troops attacked SS-Oberst-Gruppenführer JewKiller and his totally innocent and lovely family. In the battle, his 12-year-old son Gunter was wounded grievously and may never recover. This is yet another example of the evil tactics of the Americans in their vicious war to commit genocide against innocent Germans.” — Associated Press

Following the lede would be a description of poor Gunter’s injuries, his difficulties in recovering, and his strong desire to recover enough to kill more of those rat-like Jews who infest Europe. There would be quotes from Goebbels, statistics from the Nazi Ministry of Health, and documentaries featuring the children of various Nazi leaders. By the end of the story, you would be crying in shame at your failure to prevent this atrocity.

Come to think of it, The New York Times still has a Pulitzer for doing the same thing for Stalin in the 1930s, so there is a long and glorious history of press figures shilling for evil.

The irony in this case, though, is that aside from assassinations using a single bullet, it’s hard to find any military operations more discriminate than the Israeli pager attack. Everybody who had a pager had been given it by Hamas, and the only reason any civilian would have picked up that pager and been injured was that the Hamas operative was a friend or relative who left it there for them to access.

Compare that to what Hezbollah was doing at the time: indiscriminately sending rockets into Israel to kill civilians as a matter of policy. Their entire strategy for “victory” is killing innocent Jews.

Still, the Associated Press suggests that the pager attack was a war crime–it clearly was not–and that Hezbollah terrorists and their families are victims of perfidious Jews.

So much of what we have been fed about the conflict in Gaza is an inversion of reality. We see photographs and videos of cities leveled by the Israelis and battles in hospitals, without the context that Hamas is building and using tunnels, fighting from the hospitals, and using schools as fortresses.

Doctors and teachers are holding hostages, and Israel is in the wrong for fighting them. Israel provides food aid to Gazans–something it is arguably not obliged to do under international law–and Hamas steals the aid for itself and shoots civilians when they try to get the aid. Hamas has funded much of its war effort by selling aid they have stolen.

Hamas has filmed propaganda videos in which they dig up water pipes built by European and American aid in order to turn the pipes into rockets to kill Israeli civilians. USAID built a cement factory in Gaza whose major purpose was to reinforce the Hamas tunnels. You paid for this tunnel:

Yet we are being fed the line that Hezbollah and Hamas are the real victims. Pravda Media basically ignores the plight of the hostages–we get phony photos of Israel starving Gazan children, but the same media ignores a propaganda video proudly produced by Hamas showing a starving Israeli hostage digging his own grave.

And when was the last time you were reminded that the hostages were taken as part of a massive terrorist attack on civilians that had the sole intent of raping, torturing, murdering, and seizing civilians? Civilians that Israel is still trying to save almost two years later?

Hamas could end the conflict tomorrow by releasing the hostages and disarming. In fact, the entire Arab League has demanded they do so, while Westerners clamor to hand Hamas and the Palestinian Authority a state and sanction Israel for the crime of not dying already.

No doubt millions of Westerners will hang their heads in shame that we have been supporting Israel, mainly because they buy the propaganda.

After all, The Associated Press is a “respectable” news organization, right?
