The town of Gunnining, about 75km north of Canberra, was hit with a 3.2-magnitude earthquake about 12.42pm today.

The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 10km and 30 residents reported feeling the tremors.

Gunning, between Goulburn and Yass, has a population of just under 700 people.

A smaller 2.8-magnitude earthquake also hit Gunning on Friday, September 23.

The NSW Upper Hunter town of Muswellbrook was struck by a 3.0 magnitude earthquake on Monday.

Geoscience Australia said 28 people had reported feeling the quake by about 4.20pm.
