Two sisters living with chronic kidney disease will eventually need transplants, and the donors will likely be their parents.
Charlotte and Isabelle Baldock, aged 14 and 12, take more than ten medications, three times a day, to manage their condition.
Isabelle was diagnosed at just six weeks old, and her sister’s diagnosis came less than 24 hours after she was born.
“With Charlotte, it was like: ‘ohh, we know what we’re going through again, we know what this poor baby is going to go through again’,” mum Renee Baldock told 9News.
Neither girl has needed dialysis yet, but a kidney transplant will be inevitable. In a rarity, their dad Shane is a match for both daughters, while their mum is a match for Isabelle.
“I guess my genes were the ones that caused it in the first place, so to be able to be a match and help them out of it, it makes it a better feeling for sure,” Shane Baldock said.

Renee is preparing to donate her kidney to Isabelle within 12 months, with the younger sister’s kidney function already down at 18 per cent.
“Once we get to 15 per cent for Izzy… then they will start planning the actual transplant, which is about a three-month plan,” Renee said.
“I am nervous but like I know it is for a good reason and I will feel better after,” Isabelle added.
For Renee and Shane, it was never a question of whether they would donate their kidneys to their daughters, just a matter of when.
“Looking forward to seeing that day when she’s wondering why she feels so good, yeah, it will be a good feeling I think,” Shane said.
