The winning numbers were 18, 29, 34, 8, 4, 28 and 6 with a Powerball of 11.
The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said there had only ever been five draws offering a jackpot of $150 million or more.
“If just one person takes home this $150 million prize on Thursday night, they’ll make history by becoming the nation’s biggest-ever individual lottery winner,” he said, before the draw.
“The last time Powerball offered a $150 million prize was in January this year when the peak of sales was at 6.15pm on the day of the draw when 7455 tickets were sold in a single minute.”
While The Lott quickly confirmed there was only a single winning entry tonight, it wasn’t clear if that was just one person or belonged to a syndicate.
These were Australia’s lottery winning hotspots for 2023
Statisticians say there is a greater chance of being hit by lightning than winning the massive prize but it’s a chance millions were willing to take.
