Shots fired inside NYC Times Square subway station after man approaches panhandler arguing with woman

Gunfire rang out inside a Big Apple subway station Tuesday when a man intervened during a dispute between a 40-year-old woman and a panhandler, police said.

The alleged shooter pulled the trigger after he approached the panhandler who was arguing with the woman at the 49th Street subway station in Times Square around 9:15 p.m., according to authorities.

It’s unclear how many shots were fired, but no one was struck, police said.

The panhandler was taken into custody with charges pending, and the alleged shooter is still being sought, the NYPD said.
