Police are investigating after a man and woman were shot at by a stranger in Adelaide‘s inner south this morning.

Police have been told the couple, both believed to be disability workers, were at an underground carpark at Wayville on Greenhill Road when the shots were fired about 8am.

The victims were shot at as they arrived for work, allegedly by an unknown person in a dark-coloured sedan before it sped off. They were not injured.

Police were then called to a second scene at nearby Selby Street, Kurralta Park, just before 8.30am, where the Honda sedan was seen on security camera.

An hour later the same camera captured a man pouring fuel onto the Honda before it erupted into flames.

“The concerning thing is it’s peak-hour traffic, there is a school nearby, and there is other businesses opening for business at that time and potentially customers, people walking, exercising, that is the concerning thing,” Chief Inspector Peter Duance said.

Police said the shooting was thought to be a targeted attack, but would not elaborate further.

The two victims spent nine hours being interviewed by police before they were allowed to leave.

A manhunt for the gunman is under way, as is the search for the weapon.

The car found at Kurralta Park will be examined and police have an image of the suspect there.

The victims’ car was also towed away for forensic testing with visible bullet holes.
