Shoppers brave frigid temperatures for Black Friday deals across Chicago area

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (WLS) — The day after thanksgiving is one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

Many headed to Chicago-area malls in hopes to find deals as low as the temperatures for Black Friday.

While many were still sleeping off the turkey, people were bundled up and packed along the sidewalks of the Magnificent Mile.

With flurries in the air, it was also an early start for eager Black Friday shoppers in Rosemont. Many waited in line to get some great deals, bags of merch already full the day after Thanksgiving.

At the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, retailers were ready to receive Black Friday shoppers. It was much warmer inside the mall after it opened at 6 a.m., giving people a chance to get some Christmas list gifts checked off.

Woodfield Mall Marketing Director Marissa Perisco adviced for Black Friday shoppers to pack plenty of patience.

As soon as doors opened at 6 a.m. people started to line up at the Lego store.

From scooters to warm fuzzy blankets, here are some trendy gifts to snag on Black Friday 2024.

Doors opened at 6 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. on Friday.

Back downtown Chicago on State Street, some out-of-town shoppers braved the freezing weather to get some shopping done.

“Here from L.A. Enjoying beautiful Chicago, loving Black Friday,” said shopper Leticia Castillo. “Beautiful people, beautiful weather, we love it!”

Some first-timers were out in the cold too.

“I love it, because you can buy many things, so cheap, so I think I will come here more often,” shopper Luis Martin said.

There was a long line outside the Schaumburg Kia dealership Friday as the dealer offered some incredible deals. Shopper said it was well worth the winter coats for a chance a good deal on a car.
