A terrifying hit-and-run by a P-plater has been captured on a home surveillance camera.

Footage showed a black sedan swerve before hitting a cyclist from behind and then speeding off on a street in Canley Heights, in Sydney’s west, on Monday at 4.27pm.

The rider was knocked to the ground in the heavy collision before a resident ran over to assist.

The person who posted the video to the Fairfield City Community Facebook page said they believe the incident was ‘quite clearly intentional’.

‘The victim was uninjured and did not want the police or ambulance called,’ the person said.

‘Regardless, a report has been submitted to Crimestoppers which included the number plate of the offender.’

Residents were horrified by the brazen hit-and-run.

‘Omg that’s disgusting behaviour. Thank you for reporting this. I hope the driver is found and gets punished,’ one person wrote.

‘Must have been road rage. I hope he gets caught,’ another wrote.
