The CEO of Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forrest’s Fortescue Metals Group has quit the mining giant after just six months.
Fiona Hick made a ‘joint decision’ with the company’s board to leave the business, FMG said in a statement issued on Monday.
It comes after Forrest celebrated 20 years of the company at a party attended by the country’s political and media elite in the Pilbara, in north-west Western Australia, on Saturday.
FMG insisted Ms Hick’s departure was ‘both friendly and mutual’.

‘We warmly wish her the best for her future,’ the company said in statement, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
‘We thank Fiona for her valuable efforts since joining Fortescue just under six months ago and wish her all the best with her future pursuits.’
The departure of Ms Hicks, who lasted less than six months in the role after joining the firm in February, follows a two-year period of turmoil where multiple Fortescue executives have left the company.
These include chief financial officer Ian Wells and former Reserve Bank deputy governor Guy Debelle.
Ms Hicks will be replaced by chief operating officer Dino Otranto.
