The man from Swan Valley bought the ‘Slikpik 18’ ticket from Springs News in Bennett Springs an hour before the draw closed.
The father only remembered to check his entry today, discovering he’d won the $40 million Powerball just in time for the weekend.
“I was in complete disbelief and shock when the retailer explained I had the winning ticket,” he said of his windfall in a statement.
“We’re a tight family and will share the win together, making sure our kids and grandkids are looked after.
“This has changed our lives.”
Owner of Springs News, Milan Vuletich couldn’t believe his store had sold the winning ticket.

“We were pretty excited, me and my daughter were high-fiving and fist-bumping, yeah it was pretty cool”, Vuletich told Nine News.
“We’ve had a decent run in selling $1 million division one prizes a few years back, but this $40 million news is something special.”
The family celebrated their win with fish and chips for dinner and say they have made travel plans.
In 2023, Western Australia as produced 21 Division One Lotto winners, totalling $74 million in prizes.
