A warning has been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology for anyone in New South Wales to brace for severe thunderstorms.
Isolated severe thunderstorms are developing above towns across the middle of the state and into west Sydney which will begin pouring by nightfall on Wednesday.
Anyone living in Metropolitan, Illawarra and Central Tablelands Forecast Districts have been told to expect strong winds and hailstorms for the rest of the night.
The storm is also expected to stretch into the metropolitan suburbs of Penrith, Parramatta and Campbelltown.
Those affected have been urged to move their cars away from trees, secure any lose items which are outside, and to watch out for falling trees and power lines.

People are being advised to stay indoors and keep an eye out for falling trees and powerlines
The use of phones during the storm is not recommended, and the BoM has advised the affected areas to unplug computers and appliances during its peak.
People should stay indoors along with any pets or children and monitor weather conditions as they develop.
Extra caution should be paid to recent landscape changes which may have occurred in rural areas during the bushfires.
If severe storms develop above Sydney Newcastle Wollongong or surrounding areas, a more detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued to people in this area.
The BoM will issue their next warning at 7:30pm.
