The Ford Ranger is believed to have hit the Toyota Camry – which was being used as a ride-share vehicle – while it accepted a fare before crashing through five pedestrians before coming to a standstill after colliding with a stationary vehicle.

NSW Ambulance Inspector, Dominic Wong,  described the scene as ‘chaotic’.

‘We treated a total number of seven patients, with injuries ranging from head injuries (and) chest injuries,’ he said, according to 7News.

‘Some patients were in serious conditions and others were walking, minor.’

NSW Police confirmed in a statement that officers from the Burwood Area Command have established a crime scene.

Specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit have also examined the scene.

‘As investigations continue traffic diversions have been implemented and motorists are urged to avoid the area,’ a statement from NSW Police reads.

Anyone with information about the incident has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
