The title of Australia’s hottest burger may now belong to a restaurant in Queensland, where customers need to sign safety waivers before trying the spicy snack.

The Nashville Death Wish is the newest concoction from Brisbane restaurant Burger Urge.

The meal packs a hot punch, seasoned with Trinidad Scorpion Chilli which comes in at 2 million on the Scoville scale.

For comparison, cayenne pepper comes in at 50,000 on the scale.

Most police-issued pepper spray is between 500,000 and 2 million on the scale.

The restaurant has started a competition, offering a free keychain to the first 20 people to finish the burger up until July 27.

“I would say we are looking at about 2 per cent of people that actually eat the whole thing and every single one of them regrets it,” Burger Urge’s Joel Chrystal said.

9News reporter Cam Inglis was one of the first to try and take on the heat.

“This is a really bad, bad idea,” Inglis said.

“It’s warm, it’s very, very warm. Hot enough to boil a swimming pool.

“Seriously seriously burning.”
