A serial tyre slasher has caused $40,000 worth of damage in one south-west Sydney suburb.

The early morning tyre bandit wreaked havoc on cars in Kingsgrove, puncturing 200 tyres on 100 cars yesterday.

The hooded slasher was armed with a stanley knife at 2.30am and seemingly had one goal: to deflate as many tires as possible.

CCTV shows the slasher on a spree, cutting dozens of tyres in seconds as they made their way through the suburb between 2.30 and 6am.

The unknown assailant targeted cars on five different streets, leaving behind dozens of innocent victims.

One victim, Frank Brady, told 9News dozens of cars on his street were hit – including his own.

“Pretty disgusting and putrid act by whoever did it in the community,” Brady said.

Fellow victim and Kingsgrove resident Paul Tan said he didn’t understand why the slasher decided to cause so much reckless damage.

“It just feels so silly, he just got the tyres… he didn’t smash the windows or anything,” Tan said.

With tyres costing about $200 a pop to replace, the residents of this quiet suburb are facing a whopping $40,000 bill to fix the damage.

The hooded tyre tyrant remains at large.

NSW Police told 9News it was investigating the incident.

Anyone with dashcam vision in Caroline, Mashman, Northcott, Vivienne Streets, or with any other information, is urged to contact police.
