A senior constable who was found dead inside a police station in Sydney’s CBD has been identified. 

Senior Constable Mark Hobson, 52, was found dead by colleagues at Sydney Police Centre in Surry Hills early Monday morning. 

His death is not being treated as suspicious. 

‘Our hearts go out to the officer’s family,’ NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb said. 

‘Every support will be available for staff and family impacted by this tragedy.’ 

Senior Constable Hobson studied at the Goulburn Police Academy in 1996 at the age of 24 and became a probationary constable three years later. 

He also worked in the State Technical Investigations Branch.

His father Ian is a retired sergeant.

Tributes have poured in for Senior Constable Hobson online.

‘He was always helpful andassisted operations with major jobs, RIP brother,’ one said. 

‘So, so awful,’ another added.

‘I just wish he could have seen through the mist.’

A third added: ‘It does get better, I promise.’
