Aussie sports fans were elated after a supporter captured the moment Matildas star Mary Fowler waved to her beaming boyfriend Nathan Cleary at Sydney’s Accor Stadium on Monday night.

The NRL superstar, 26, was joined by his mother Rebecca as Tony Gustavsson’s squad outclassed China 2-0 in their final hit-out ahead of the Paris Olympics in July.

The TikTok clip – which has had almost 95,000 views – was dubbed ‘we love a supportive king.’

Gustavsson was impressed with the collective desire his team displayed in front of a healthy crowd of 76,798.

‘We were very aggressive and attack-minded,’ he said following second half goals to Clare Wheeler and Hayley Raso.

‘We do need to work on our game management … even though we don’t like to play slow, we need to learn how to kill a game and save our legs for the next round.’

Fowler had further cause for celebration on Tuesday when she was formally named in Australia’s 18-strong squad for the Games.

It will be the Manchester City star’s second Olympics following her appearance at Tokyo in 2021 where the Matildas finished fourth.

Meanwhile, scans last month revealed a Grade 2 hamstring tear for her beau Cleary, which will see the first-choice NSW halfback sidelined for the Origin series.

Game one is in Sydney on Wednesday night.

Cleary and Fowler have been an item since at least last November, after Daily Mail Australia exclusively revealed photos of the pair enjoying a cuddle at a Perth park before a Matildas’ Olympic qualifying match.

They first attracted attention as a potential couple when they were seen together on a leisurely walk along the Nepean River in Penrith in Sydney’s west.

The pair were then seen sharing an ice cream following a promotional event hosted by Adidas, a brand both athletes endorse.
