Travellers at Gold Coast Airport are battling a knock-on effect of lines and delays after the security incident triggered “operational disruptions”.

Gold Coast Airport said in a statement that the incident involved passengers who had already boarded a flight needing to be rescreened.

“Security protocols were activated at Gold Coast Airport this morning in regards to an isolated incident which involved the requirement to rescreen passengers onboard one flight,” a spokesperson said.

“Operational delays were experienced as a result. Gold Coast Airport is working with its airline partners to manage the impact to customers. 

“Operations have resumed however there will be some flight delays as a result.”

Two flights to Sydney from Gold Coast Airport were cancelled for later today.

The delays are expected to be resolved by this afternoon.
