An anonymous donor has paid off the balance of hundreds of toys on lay-by across Queensland.

The mystery stranger, who is a long term donor with Gold Coast-based charity Serving Our People, paid off lay-by balances at every Mr Toys Toyworld stores across the state, amounting to $150,000.

“It’s so beautiful to see donors doing these kinds of initiatives during Christmas,” Serving Our People founder Yas Matbouly said.

“There are people at the moment struggling between either choosing eating or buying toys for the children … I think this will really relieve them from their worries.

“He has really gone above and beyond in his generosity and his kindness.”

Mum Nadine Dwyer was on her way to pay down her balance at the Aspley store on Brisbane’s northside when she received the news.

“She called and just said we’ve got a great charity who have paid off your lay-by,” Dwyer said.

“Insane yeah … bit of a tearjerker as well.”

About $10,000 worth of Christmas lay-bys were paid off at the Aspley store alone.

Over the coming days 744 families will visit Mr Toys Toyworld stores to collect their presents.
