A Porsche graffitied with the word ‘cheater’ has been spotted in busy public places around the Gold Coast – but locals suspect it is an elaborate publicity stunt.

The $130,000 Porsche Cayman – which also featured ‘duck you,’ and ‘hahaha’ sprayed in all capital letters around the bodywork – was spotted in Burleigh Heads, at a restaurant in Broadbeach and the car park of a famous gym.

Locals on the Glitter Strip were seen taking photos of the parked sportscar, with videos of the Porsche quickly going viral online.

Many Aussies threw their support behind the scorned lover they believed was behind the graffiti, while others cracked jokes at the owner’s expense.

‘My partner and I saw that exact car and we were like ‘dayum that guy really f***ed up’,’ one person wrote.

‘I’d love to see the link between owning a Porsche and being unfaithful. Cars like that don’t scream reliable family man,’ another wrote.

‘I’m going to spray paint it on my own car so people think that I’m sexually active,’ a third person commented.

‘[It] actually looks like it’s meant to be art,’ another added.

Many, however, believed the owner of the Porsche painted it himself.

The busy parking locations, and misspelling of ‘f*** you’ gave weight to the theory.

The number plates also appeared to be concealed while the car was parked.

The owner of the Porsche shared his own videos of the graffiti to his TikTok account.

The car has since resurfaced on his own Instagram, clean of any of the graffiti, leading some to believe the car was only sprayed in a water-washable paint or chalk.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday they had received ‘no reports to investigate’ the vehicle.

‘There have been no wilful damage occurrences reported to police for this vehicle,’ they said.

Others were reminded of similar, previous stunts.

In June, Sydney’s social set went into a frenzy over a black Range Rover defaced with the word ‘cheater’ in silver spray paint in Bondi.

The vehicle was parked along Campbell Parade in Bondi Beach.

Later that afternoon, the Range Rover was spotted again – this time parked across the road from Double Bay’s Royal Oak Hotel.

Locals couldn’t help but notice a message plastered across the windscreen which read ‘Don’t deny it, I have the receipts!’ with a QR code.

But instead of revealing the details of a local love scandal, the QR code led to the landing page of a cosmetics company promoting a new mascara line.

The page declared: ‘Cheater! You’ve clumped and flaked. You are toxic’.

It then offered a new formula of mascara and invited beauty lovers to ‘cheat on your toxic mascara’ and have a clean ‘Lash Affair’.
