Fans of Sarah Michelle Gellar‘s hit cult series Buffy the Vampire Slayer shouldn’t get their hopes up for a revival.
Although there has been talk of a reboot for the last several years, which might now be possible with Disney owning the franchise, Gellar has made it clear that she has no interest in reprising her titular role in any form.
Gellar inspired a generation of teens in the late 1990s and early 2000s as she fought off demons, witches and of course vampires. Buffy came to an end in 2003, but not before spawning the spin-off series Angel.
Speaking with SFX Magazine, Gellar says she’s happy with the way the series ended and doesn’t want to revisit her character.

“I am very proud of the show that we created and it doesn’t need to be done. We wrapped that up. I am all for them continuing the story, because there’s the story of female empowerment,” she said. “I love the way the show was left: “Every girl who has the power can have the power.” It’s set up perfectly for someone else to have the power. But like I said, the metaphors of Buddy were the horrors of adolescence. I think I look young, but I am not an adolescent.”
In the meantime, Gellar is now focusing on werewolves in her new series, Wolf Pack. The actress will play Kristin Ramsey in the series, an arson investigator who is described as a “highly regarded expert in her field and no stranger to personal loss.”
The series will center on “a teenage boy and a girl whose lives are forever changed when a California wildfire awakens a terrifying supernatural creature.”
Wolf Pack is an indirect spin-off from Paramount’s Teen Wolf: The Movie. It will be released on Paramount+ on January 26, 2023, and alongside Gellar features Rodrigo Santoro, Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson and Tyler Lawrence Gray.
