The 73-year-old died at Prince of Wales Hospital in the city’s eastern suburbs at 7.25am this morning, a Corrective Services NSW spokeswoman confirmed.
“As a matter of protocol, Corrective Services NSW and NSW Police investigate all deaths in custody regardless of the circumstances,” she said in a statement.
Guider kidnapped Bondi schoolgirl Samantha Knight from the street on August 19, 1986.
Guider was sentenced to 17 years in prison for the death of the nine-year-old after more than a decade of police investigations.
Guider never displayed remorse for his crime or revealed where he dumped the nine-year-old’s body.
Guider also had many other child victims, boys and girls, who he drugged, molested and photographed.
“He’s capable of again snatching another child off the street,” he said.
“I despise him and I will continue to do so.”
