- Sam Kerr has arrived at Kingston Crown Court ahead of her hearing on Monday
- The Matildas star is alleged to have racially abused a police officer
- Kerr pleaded not guilty to the allegations during a hearing in March
Chelsea striker Samantha Kerr called police officers ‘stupid and white’ after she and her fiancée smashed a taxi window on a drunken night out, a court heard.
The Australian superstar, 31, abused PC Stephen Lovell after the taxi driver drove her directly to Twickenham Police Station following the incident in the early hours of January 30, 2023.
The driver had phoned police to say a woman in his car was trying to smash his back window, and was advised to drive to the police station, Bill Emlyn Jones KC, prosecuting, told jurors.
PC Lovell and PC Samuel Limb were in a marked police car outside the station in Twickenham at about 2.20am and saw smashed glass around the taxi and noticed Kerr trying to climb out of the window of the vehicle, alongside her fiancée, West Ham footballer Kristie Mewis.
Kerr told police that the driver had refused to take them to her home address so she believed they were being kidnapped and broke the window to escape and raise the alarm, the prosecutor said.
The driver claimed that he phoned police when one of the women had been sick in the car and refused to pay. When the officers tried to explain the situation to Kerr and Ms Mewis, the women kept interrupting with Kerr showing PC Lovell the contents of her bank account on a mobile app to indicate she could easily afford to pay for any damage.

Kerr arrived at Kingston Crown Court just before 11am on Monday. She was dressed all in black – a black coat, covering a black shirt and black jeans.
The 31-year-old has not played for club or country since rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in January last year. Her manager, Sonia Bompastor, said in December that she is expecting the striker to return in February or March.
The Matildas captain signed for Chelsea in 2019 and played a pivotal role in four WSL triumphs, as well as three FA Cup and two League Cup victories with the Blues.
The Matildas captain is also the all-time leading goal scorer for her country, netting 69 goals in 128 appearances.
As for off-field matters, Kerr and her fiancée Mewis are expecting a child.
The Court heard that Kerr, who has twice won the WSL Golden Boot award and was a runner up to Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati at the Ballon d’Or awards in 2024, then told PC Lovell: ‘You guys are f***ing stupid and white.’
The comments were overheard by PC Limb and PC Shane Scott, and were caught on bodyworn cameras, jurors were told.
PC Scott described the woman as being ‘inebriated, very agitated and emotional,’ the court heard.
PC Lovell then arrested her on suspicion of criminal damage and racially aggravated public order.
Mr Emlyn Jones told jurors: ‘It’s not so much what she said but what she meant by the abuse.

‘What did she mean, what was her intent? ‘And secondly, how did it make PC Lovell feel at the time?’
He said that Kerr identifies as being white Anglo-Indian, which was relevant to the charge.
