Sam Hunt arrested for speeding and violating interlock device years after DUI

Sam Hunt’s “Cop Car” song didn’t age well.

The country singer, 40, was arrested on Jan. 20 for speeding and violating an interlock device, according to TMZ.

Police pulled Hunt over in Henderson County, Tennessee, and took him to jail before releasing him the same day on a $1,500 bond.

An interlock device is also known as a car breathalyzer. The device measures breath alcohol content and requires the driver to blow into the device to enable the vehicle’s ignition. The mechanism is intended to prevent drunk driving.

Hunt was arrested for a DUI in 2019, which could explain why his car had the interlock device; however, it’s unclear if they are related.

A representative for the singer confirmed his arrest in a statement given to TMZ on Wednesday, saying that Hunt cleared the necessary paperwork in court this week and will not be charged. He added that Hunt received a speeding ticket, which he plans to pay.

The Post has reached out to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and Hunt’s rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.

This is a developing story.
