A man on an afternoon run has been killed and two drivers are injured after a two-car collision in Melbourne’s south-east.
Police said the crash occurred between about 2.30pm on Belgrave-Hallam Road in Narre Warren North, shortly after a Mazda and a ute both overtook a car and a truck travelling along the main road.
It’s understood the Mazda then returned to the left lane, before the ute veered into its path and lost control, crossing a footpath and striking the man, who was running on the footpath.
Police are still working to identify the victim, who is believed to be aged in his 30s.
Detectives said the ute hit a metal railing and became mangled between the railing and a tree, while the Mazda flipped onto its side.
The driver of the ute, aged in his 30s, was taken to Dandenong Hospital under police guard.
The driver of the Mazda, a woman aged in her 40s, was taken to Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition.
